Final Artist Statement Project 4

Writer: Jack HerronJack Herron

I am somewhat proud of how this project turned out. We already had a very limited time to do it, but to make it worse I was very sick for majority of the length of this unit. When I finally recovered, I was very behind and running out of time very quickly. That being said, it was fun to work on and not extremely work heavy. I am proud of the pages I do have, but I wish I added more paths and more options for the users to go through. It felt a little straightforward and like there wasn't much opportunity to explore while I watched the class go through it. I did have a few twists and some options that got you "game over" or straight up killed you. Some of the text also shifted and appeared harder to read than it did when I was working on it, so I should have triple checked to make sure that didn't happen. I think the first thing I would add, and I got this idea from someone in class, is maybe have the bars actually be breakable if you click on them twice. This way I could add a whole new adventure and escape plan, which would make it easy to add a bunch of new paths and options. On the pages I already have, I would probably want to add more options as well, rather than just having like two or three per page, I should have added more to some of them. Overall, it seemed to keep people engaged and my hard work on the background/scenes did pay off and people liked them. For the limited time I had, the project did not turn out bad and was kind of cool. The easter egg I had was cool also, and I am glad that people didn't notice it right away, when you hover over the toilet a blue smiley face appears, and I was worried that would give it away too easy but I wanted people to be able to find it on their own without me telling them.
