This was definitely an interesting project to do. I have heard a little bit before about John Cage, but really didn't know anything about him. It was cool to learn about how he influenced a whole new style of music. The exquisite corpse soundscape was fun to make as well, and really such a cool idea for an art project. I liked just searching through all the sound files trying to think of which ones I could make fit into my project. It was like a treasure hunt. For my project I decided to stick with making it like a creepy walk home. I used audio such as footsteps, wind, and water dripping to give the effect of a desolate, empty walk home, with everyday things happening around. I do like how my project turned out, but after listening to it on the projector in front of the rest of the class, I really realized how boring it was for some parts. If I were to do it again, I would definitely add more sounds throughout the piece overall, and maybe a bit more variety of sounds throughout it. I am proud of parts of it however and do feel like it really did paint a realistic picture to the listeners. Also, the part where I tried to make a jump scare with the dog barking worked well and I know it made at least one person jump. I purposely made the sounds get quieter and quieter and eventually stop, so that everyone would be listening in closely right when the bark comes up. The style of the critique was very nice as well. I got to receive feedback from everyone in the class and it was all typed out so I could go back and read through the feedback outside of class. I am excited to now have these audio tools to use on our upcoming project.
